Brake Bracket Inventor
In this project we were tasked with creating a brake bracket in Inventor and use Fusion 360 to convert it to G-Code. Then we cut it out on the CNC Mill. After the Mill cut it out we were tasked with laser engraving our names and class on the front of the brake bracket.
I followed the dimensions given to my from a hand out sheet. I created a rectangle with the correct 4 holes in it. I also added the circles to make the rounded shape on the brake bracket using the radius of the curve. I made a line and used the tangent tool to line it up with the circles. Next I used the trim tool to get rid of all the the lines and semi circles that I didn't need.
Next I created a new sketch and added the circles that were elevated. I made a circle, put dimensions on it, and trimmed the flat part off. Next, I extruded the circle and my bracket was complete. |

Next, It was time to take the Inventor file and turn it into G Code so that the CNC Mill can read the part. I had to put a stock box around the bracket and set the start point to the lower left corner of the brake bracket.
After that I had to change the speed to 5000 RPM and create a 3D path instead of a 2D path. This is so it could cut in a 3D pattern. Next I converted it to G Code and saved it to my flash drive. Now it is time to take it to the Mill.

Next we had to laser engrave our first name, last name, and class hour on the front of the bracket. I had already made it back in the maze project so I just had to print it on the bracket. I used pure blue lines and changed the power to 14% and the speed to 100. I printed it and now my brake bracket is done.
Summary
This project was very similar to the maze project because we used inventor, fusion and the laser printer. The only difference in machines was in this project we used the CNC Mill instead of the router. I liked the Mill much more.
This project was difficult only because there was a lot of programs to keep track of and use. I was a lot to remember to do. I went pretty smooth though because I used them all before back in the maze project. I really enjoyed learning the mill. Now I am knowledgeable with all the machines of this year. I am now a professional at Fusion 360 and the laser printer.
